Is Your mind Being Poisoned by Your Friends and Family?

So your relationship with Bobby or with the TV or with Facebook is MORE about where you are WILLING to offer your VERY PRECIOUS and LIMITED energy. The bar of your INTEGRITY and your INTENTION can be the compass of which you use to navigate your course. So if your Bestie is wasted EVERY Saturday night and calling you crying EVERY Sunday morning because she is the Mary to Bobby’s Friday night….is she REALLY your bestie? Are you allowing this kind of energy to encompass you?

Are You Choosing to Have Problems?

It is much, MUCH easier to get wrapped up in my disagreement with Mary, my lust for Jimmy, if I am going to buy the Mac Book Pro or the Mac Air…than it is to sit quietly, and observe myself. It is ANNOYINGLY convenient to involve myself in the office drama, my friend’s divorce, or anything else I can find to complain about…than to ACTUALLY pinpoint what re-occuring thoughts and behaviors are CAUSING my own misery.

Yoga Actually Makes Life Harder

I cannot fung shway the FUNK. There is no arrangement or re-arrangement of my unhelpful thoughts, habits, and tendencies that WILL MAKE them HELPFUL. Whether my eating disorder is hidden in the basement or displayed in the living room, whether it is hung on the wall, or placed high up on a shelf, it IS STILL my eating disorder and IT STILL resides in MY house. So EVEN if it is buried behind grandma’s christmas decorations in the attic, I still have the knowledge that it’s there. And HERE is where I believe the “HARD” part of yoga comes into play. NOW that I have both seen and acknowledged that it is NOT helpful, NOW, I have to DO something about it.

What Makes Me a CRAPPY Yoga Teacher

The massive confusion around our identities is directly linked to believing that we ARE whatever adjective comes after, “I AM.” Not only do we allow ourselves to adjectify ourselves, but even worse, we allow others to do it for us, and yes, we do it to others as well!

MUSIC IS THE DIRT IN YOUR MIND

It’s kind of like believing that the piano is the same thing as the sound of the music coming out of it. what Your POOP Can Tell You About Your Yoga Practice

Consider the mind like a Kindergarten Classroom. The children are your thoughts and YOU are the teacher. Stretching & Yoga Have NOTHING In Common

Goodness knows we have been inundated with no shortage of perceptions as to WHAT IS YOGA: “yoga is stretching, yoga is touching your toes, yoga is NOT for me, yoga is a cult, yoga is a religion, yoga is for bendy girls in tights, yoga is a fad, yoga is Indian men with beards standing on their heads,” and I’m sure you can offer me a few more after class….

The Correlation Between Google and Mental Illness

When we step back and look at what we have in our minds made REAL….it’s quite comical and tragic all at the same time. Comical in the sense that google is a common word in our vocabulary…just the word itself…google…. google (say it a few times and try not to giggle), most of us don’t even know how we lived before we had INSTANT pocket access to consult this magical ‘googley' kingdom which beholds all information

Why Suffering is a Necessary Accessory to JOY

People are going to die, pets are going to die, and yes, even YOU are going to die. It’s a given. So by trying to avoid suffering, aren’t we really just creating MORE unnecessary suffering? The avoidance gives birth to the dis ease, which gives way to symptoms that include but are not limited to: binge drinking, drugging, eating, not eating, shopping, watching, gambling, sexing, etc.

Why BINGE Eating is Healthy!!

If we want to understand something that is arising within us, we have to be willing to inquire within, to graciously set the table with our finest china and invite ALL of the outcasts, demons, and dragons to the dinner party, not with cynicism or righteousness, but with humility and open arms. Why? Because we ALL just want to be seen, to be heard, and to be acknowledged.
